myFirst Fone Battery Life & Testing Information
What our stated battery-life figures mean, how they are tested, and why your everyday battery life may be different.
At a glance
Up to 2 daysNormal use |
Up to 5 daysStandby time |
What does “up to” mean? These figures come from controlled internal laboratory testing. They are useful reference points, but they are not a guarantee that every watch will achieve exactly the same battery life in everyday use.
Battery life is strongly influenced by how the watch is used. GPS, video and voice calls, messaging, Wi-Fi, screen use and mobile signal strength can all increase power consumption.
Up to 5 Days Standby Time
This figure is based on internal laboratory testing with the watch powered on but effectively left idle. During the standby test:
- The device remained powered on with the screen off.
- No voice or video calls were made.
- GPS and location tracking were not used.
- No messages were sent or received.
- No applications or watch features were actively used.
- The device remained on its default system settings.
In practical terms: standby time is how long the watch may remain powered on when it is barely being used. A watch being actively worn by a child will normally use more battery than this.
Up to 2 Days of Normal Use
For normal-use testing, myFirst technicians used the following daily usage scenario:
|
Activity |
Daily test usage |
|
Standby |
14.3 hours in standby |
|
Location |
60 minutes of GPS tracking, updated every 5 minutes |
|
Class Mode |
30 minutes in Class Mode |
|
Calls |
3 voice calls (30 seconds each) + 1 video call (60 seconds) |
|
Voice messages |
Receive/play 7 and send 7 voice messages (15 seconds each) |
|
Camera & gallery |
Use the camera 3 times and view gallery photos/videos 3 times |
|
Manual checks |
6 manual app location updates + 3 heart-rate measurements |
|
Wi-Fi |
Toggle Wi-Fi on/off 6 times |
Using more of these power-hungry features may mean the watch needs charging sooner. Lighter use may result in longer battery life.
Why Your Battery Life May Vary
Real-world battery life can vary from one user, day or location to another. Key factors include mobile network and signal strength, GPS/location frequency, voice and video calls, screen and camera use, Wi-Fi and connected features, settings and app activity, environmental conditions, and normal battery ageing.
Getting the Best Everyday Battery Life
For a good balance between staying connected and battery life, start the day with a full charge, use location tracking at a frequency that suits your needs, keep video calls sensible when extended battery life is important, and keep the watch software up to date.
Battery Life Disclaimer
Battery life figures are based on internal laboratory testing and are intended as a reference only. Actual battery life may vary depending on network conditions, signal strength, enabled features, settings, application usage, environmental conditions, battery age and individual usage patterns.
Where a myFirst product page or comparison chart states “up to 2 days normal use” or “up to 5 days standby”, those claims should be read together with the testing information on this page.
