Understanding SIM & Network Options

myFirst Fones are available with either an eSIM or Nano-SIM. The option you choose affects how the Fone can make calls, send messages and connect with approved contacts. 

eSIM Models (R2, S4, S3+) 

eSIM models connect exclusively through the myFirst global network and cannot be moved to another mobile provider. 

The myFirst plan costs NZ$12 per month and includes unlimited data. 

Because this is a data-only service: 

This option works well for families who are happy to keep all communication within the myFirst Circle app. 

Nano-SIM Models (S3, M1, R1C) 

Nano-SIM models include a myFirst Nano-SIM card at no extra cost. 

When using the included myFirst SIM, the Fone connects through the same NZ$12 per month unlimited-data plan. It operates as a data-only service, with calls and messages handled through the myFirst Circle app. 

The key advantage of a Nano-SIM model is flexibility. You can remove the myFirst SIM and replace it with a compatible New Zealand SIM from a provider such as 2degrees or One NZ. 

With a local mobile plan, the Fone can have: 

Choose a plan with at least 800 MB of mobile data per month so the Fone can continue supporting location updates, GPS tracking and its connected safety features.
